Research

We aim to contribute to the development of the field of social entrepreneurship by developing knowledge about how to apply business tools and entrepreneurial principles to achieving social objectives. In addition, we aim to learn from the creative and highly effective practices of social entrepreneurs and draw lessons for the business sector.

Our approach implies a direct synergy between research and teaching. Case studies and other teaching materials are developed during the research process and their use and refinement improves the insights from research and the academic publications.
Our research agenda addresses issues of conceptual interest that also reflect key concerns of practicing social entrepreneurs. The four current research streams are:
  1. A conceptual framework for Social Entrepreneurship
  2. Business Model Innovation
  3. Scaling Up Social Innovations
  4. The Challenges of Managing Social Businesses
